Glandular-level modification is the process of altering the endocrine system of a given active, which enables the person making the alterations to add or remove reflexes from the active. The technique was pioneered by Topher Brink in order to endow Echo with the maternal instincts of a new mom for one of her assignments. In that instance, however, it backfired when the client decided that he no longer wanted her around, and Topher attempted to wipe her. Though her memories were wiped, her instincts remained, and she attempted to rescue the child to whom she had been playing mother, convinced that his biological father would hurt him. In the wake of that incident, all other glandular-level modification assignments were shelved until further notice.
